Being a tourist.

I've have been to Geneva twice but not doing too much touring otherwise. However the countryside is very beautiful, with its little villages surrounded by mountains. Will try to post some pictures, but still dealing with a SLOW internet here at the hotel. At this point I will upload whatever and not worry about telling any kind of story.

Patti arrives tomorrow so the quality of the pictures should increase dramatically!

Here is the typical view from my terrace. It rains every day but generally clears in the evening. I am told this is not the usual weather.

Totally out of sequence but today (Thursday) I finally took a walk down the hill into the village of Crozet. Very pretty, took some nice pictures. Everywhere you look is a like a postcard. As I made my way back up, of course it started to rain. But this was what I saw when I got back to the room.

Earlier, back at CERN I took a tour of the Adventure globe. An interesting exhibit about the experiments at the LHC and what they are looking for, and why they are important. Globe is ugly but cool stuff inside.

The cafeteria at CERN, where I spend much of my time.

Another view of the cafeteria and registration building. This is where I could access the reasonably fast internet.

Another CERN building.  Like most national (or in this case international) laboratories, it has evolved over the years to have many functional, if not attractive, buildings. This is the main building for the CMS experiment, newer and better looking than most.

The drive back to my hotel in Crozet, France.

Slightly below the middle of the picture is the Bois Joly. my hotel.

Random shot from the hotel. Patti loves clouds.

Another shot from the terrace.

Looking toward Geneva at night.

Got a lot more but they take time. How the Yankees doing? Mare?

S'il vous plait if you get a chance, say happy 22nd birthday to Erin, whose birthday is Friday (the 22nd!). Merci. . I am feeling a little bit guilty about missing it. Don't worry, I will get over it.

As I write I learn that Patti is stuck in mega-traffic and may miss her flight. Sacrebleu!

More pics to follow.
